Charitable Remainder Trusts
A “Charitable Remainder Trust” can be used as a financial vehicle which pays you or your chosen beneficiary income for life, for a fixed term, or both. If set up correctly, after the term’s completion, the remaining property passes to a charitable beneficiary, such as the trust operated by the Heightened Hearts Foundation. The flexibility of this financial option allows donors to maintain a greater level of spendable income and, because of the proposed donation, a reduced amount of taxes during the beneficiary/donor’s lifetime.
A Charitable Lead Trust
Unlike the Charitable Remainder Trust, the Charitable Lead Trust is a financial vehicle in which the earned or inherited income goes first to a charity of a person’s choice, and later reverts to the named beneficiary. This type of trust is most often used as part of a larger estate plan.
